The KH story (Chapter 2)

Hmm... where did I stop? Oh yeah, Roxas fainting. Need to get him out of that situation soon... Oh the first part(in italics) is a cutscene from the past. Read to find out more!! (If I don't have a author's comment at the bottom it's probably not completed yet. Oh, how I love to type.)

Chapter 2

Roxas stared down at the two people on the ground. He recognised them, but didn't have any feelings towards them. Sora was kneeling on the road, close to the people, a woman and a man. He wept tears that dripped down from his face onto the bodies.

"Why? Why did they have to die?" Sora whimpered as he wiped his shameful tears with his arm. "Who is going to take care of us now?"

Roxas could not say a thing. After all, what could he say? That their parents were gambling addicts and owned the loan sharks a huge sum of money? That the reason why they were always poor was due to their parents' gambling?

He still couldn't say a thing after all. From the time when he found out, to even now, he couldn't say it. Let Sora have a better last impression of them, he decided. Even if the last impression was a mangled dead body on the ground, horribly slit open with organs missing. The loan sharks had gotten back their money after all.

He put one hand on his brother's shoulder comfortingly, consoling him with his gentle touch.

"There's no one to take care of us now, Sora. We'll have to take care of ourselves."

"I...I can't! Why...Why did this happen.....why...." Sora cradled his head in his arms, murmuring to himself.

"Don't worry about it. I'll take care of you. I promise."



I broke the promise. Sorry, Sora. I couldn't take care of you.



He was breathing. His heartbeat was faint.

"I'm alive", he thought.

He felt the continuous shower of water hitting his skin. He was lying in a puddle of fluid. He was wet.

"But it wasn't raining a while ago..."

His thoughts were detached, as though it was foreign and new to him.

He could heard some conversation taking place. It was blurred and confusing as their meaningless words swirled around his head. He struggled to listen in the world of darkness. It took all of his concentration just to do that.

"....permission.......outsider........how could it be possible..."

As he desperately tried to make sense of what he heard, the other guy spoke up.

"......whatever................outsiders........eliminated."

Roxas's eyes twitched and gradually opened. His eyes could see a sea of rain, two figures near him. One of them started making his way towards him. In shock, he realized that in the man's hand was a knife. A sharp one, by the looks of it.

His instincts took control of his lethargic body as he started a run, then a sprint for his life. The two men let out a yelp of surprise as the boy slipped away from him.

But they were not easily beaten. They started a chase for the boy, screaming and swearing. Roxas barely had gotten a bit of distance before he heard their threats behind him, and he bolted faster than before.

By then, his body was fully functioning, with his blood pumping as he utilised his speed to the maximum. The cool wind blew in his face, with the rain splashing onto his forehead as he ran at full speed towards nowhere in particular. His thoughts were a jumbled mess as he ran, recognising none of the surroundings around him as he tried to lose the men off his trail.

Roxas ran through the streets, turning corners as he tried to shake them off his trail. He continued until he broke free of the city, and followed a road towards the sea. Too late did he realise it was a dead end. A perilous cliff lay ahead of him, with no other way of escape. He heard the familar thud of footsteps approaching behind him.... and he leaped.

"Oh man, we lost him. "

"We'll report this to the boss."

Roxas swum stealthily underwater. Only until he was sure that the men had gone then he dared to come up for a breath. The calming sea swirled and churned around him as he dazed at the setting sun. He saw a shore some distance away and decided to head towards there. He started making his way in the vermilion shade of the waters to his destination.

Upon reaching the shore, he dragged his weary body into the forest, where he lay against a tree and promptly fell asleep.

Author's notes: Long chapter!! Sorry for the lack of Sora and Riku. I didn't expect this chapter to get so long. This chapter features Roxas, Roxas and more Roxas! If you don't understand any part of this passage you can ask me. You can try to make sense of the story and deduce stuff, no problem. But don't ask questions like "Who were those two guys?" or "Why was Roxas being attacked?" cause it would be a spoiler. I intend to explain it in the later parts of the story. So, this is chapter 2! I shall claim that the next chapter will have Sora's and Riku's appearance. Enjoy! (Roxas doesn't fight back cause his body is too weak and his mind is like can't make sense of anything at all. Had to explain this in case anyone thought that Roxas was out of character.)
