The children of the ruins

I think I shall call this the title. What ya think? It's a background for one of the video games I wish to make. It's meant to be a strategy game... It's a bit futuristic, with no plot at all. Only got some basic direction where it goes. And a little bit of characters. Not fully developed though. Here it goes:

It's year 2134. (Not like anyone cares anymore.) War is rampant as the nations divide into sections, fighting a continuous battle. The land between the sections are barren, from grenades and bombing. There is no vegetation. There is only ruins of what used to be cities, towns. They call this big vast area of patch land "The plains". However, everyone refers to it as the "ruins". It's a tough age and the children are being dragged to fight, to battle in wars. (But what for?) When people are injured, they leave them on the battlefield to die. Or worse still, they throw you into the ruins. There, most people die without the aid of medical support. Those who survive are left to fend for themselves.

A boy lay on the plains, baking in the hot sun. The sun's glare reflected off his pale, bleached blonde hair as the boy lay unconscious. A shadow loomed over him.

"Oh. Yet another one. Is he dead?"

The girl checked his body for signs of life, slightly surprised that he's still alive. She didn't expect to see a alive person after all. Too many times has she seen a dead fellow, their hands hauntingly reaching towards an imaginary source of hope.

She noticed the trail of blood that dragged on the ground. Also, she realized that the fellow had fainted due to loss of blood. This all could be seen from his bleeding shoulder, with the arm missing.

"Yet another victim, huh?"

The girl spoke in her usual cold tone, developed from her life in the ruins. She was about to leave when she seemed to remembered something. Perhaps, a memory from her past? She shook her head, as though to shake the memory off. Then, she looked at the guy, filthy from dirt. She picked him up gently, and slung his other intact arm around her shoulder, and half carried, half dragged him to her 'house'.

End of part 1. There's a part 2 soon. After I write the KH story.
